It looks like James Harden got his wish after all. In the latest update by Adrian Wojnarowski, the Philadelphia 76ers have come to a trade deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. Ever since Harden’s trade request, things have been chaotic in the Sixers training camp. Chaotic might actually be an understatement.

With him calling Daryl Morey a liar, not showing up for practices, and even going as far as plastering his once-biggest-supporter, Morey’s face on signs at a party he hosted, Philly had turned into the most chaotic place in the Association for a while. Seeing that his public denouncement efforts went to waste, Harden switched to a more somber, subtle gameplay. And it seems like the Gods heard The Beard’s prayers.

In the most recent Twitter update, everyone’s favorite NBA insider Woj has finally revealed the details of the Harden trade. Adding on to this, Woj has also updated that the Clippers have allowed for 2028 unprotected first-round pick, 2 second-round picks, and a pick swap. Interestingly, LA is also redirecting a future first-round pick from a third team. Clearly, Harden’s value as a player is still in demand for the Clippers to go to this much trouble for trouble personified.

With his history of forcing teams’ hands to move out when he feels there is not enough of a challenge, it’s fair to assume the fans are concerned over this trade. But, Harden has talked about his deep interest in creating a dream team with the Clippers’ star duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. So here’s to hoping this deal works out. After all, seeing the Clippers’ performance so far, they need all the help they can get.

What this deal means for the 76ers

As reported by ESPN’s Woj, veteran forwards Marcus Morris, Nic Batum, and Robert Covington are the players that the Sixers get immediately. Kenyon Martin Jr. is also part of this deal. At 22 years old, the Clippers got him from Houston this offseason. Son of former NBA player, “K-Mart”, KJ Jr. is coming off a career-low of 5.0 points in 15.5 minutes per game.

Marcus Morris has had his highs and lows with the Clippers. The 2020-21 season was a pretty good one for him. His shooting was hailed as phenomenal and his last season stats are an average of 11.2 points and 4.0 rebounds. Nic Batum, though a great defensive-minded player, had a career-low of 2.7 points and 2.3 rebounds this season. Covington, on the other hand, seems to be doing better with 3.0 points and 2.7 rebounds in the games played so far.

So, it seems like the deal is not worse for the wear. The 76ers might have got just what they needed. A few veterans and a young, NBA-blooded small forward. Not to mention, the rest of the deal also has a lot of room for improvement. Hopefully, everything works out fine and Harden can play in peace.
