It looks like Chris Paul will get a long rest without having to miss any games, after all. The Warriors lost to the Kings 123-124 tonight. But what fans and social media just cannot understand is why Steve Kerr would bench a hot Moses Moody in the fourth quarter, and still keep Klay Thompson on the floor.

The entire fiasco is making rounds on the internet, getting rave reactions from fans. While some are astonished, there’s one fan who has a new nickname for Thompson.

Watching an obvious hot-streak Moody being pulled off was enough for every Dubs fan to pull their hair out. One such user, going with the handle @diverisythat, tweeted quite a comment on the situation. “Jesus Christ Steve Kerr has to be one of the slowest coaches in today’s nba. He challenges shitty calls and subs out a guy with the hot hand while keeping in KLANK THOMPSON. Fuck Klay he is washed.”

The situation at hand was that Moody was not even part of the rotation. So for him to heed the call and give the performance of a lifetime impressed even the hardened fans. With a perfect 4/4 from the field, 11 points, and 2 assists in just 13 minutes of game time, Moses Moody was just getting warmed up.

It was in such a situation that Coach Kerr immediately pulled him out, replacing Moody with Wiggins. Klay Thompson was also still on the floor. This didn’t go over well with the Dub Nation and many who just couldn’t accept the sheer ridiculousness.

They were not shy about letting Kerr know about it either.

Social media rips Kerr and Thompson apart

By now, everybody knows just how harsh and critical fans can be. Especially when they see coaches or players make decisions that go very wrong. And in the Kings vs Warriors matchup, fans lost it completely when Kerr decided to pull Moses Moody from the floor. Klay Thompson was not exempt from contempt, either. Take a look at one user who seems to have the gift of reading Thompson’s mind.

Another user points out the technicalities in that Klay hasn’t “made a bucket since the first half but Moses Moody was on fire.”

Yet another user didn’t make things complicated or list out any reasons. Simple and direct.

@roddystr’s tweet was perhaps the most intense and harshest of the lot. Directed chiefly at Kerr, Klay also manages to catch a few strays, and not in a good way.

And finally, this user is just plain confused as to why Steve would decide on such a sub.

Though the Warriors coach gave his reasons for the sudden change of heart, it’s doubtful whether they’ll make much difference. He did give props to the 21-year-old guard for his presence of mind and hard work. So that counts for something.

One take at a time

“Not only is there more to life than basketball, there’s a lot more to basketball than basketball” - Jackson had a simple philosophy when he was coaching the Lakers. He wanted everyone to succeed and grow in the service of something bigger than themselves. This is what struck me the most.
