Klay Thompson made massive waves in the NBA world last night, after his late-game snub against the Brooklyn Nets. The 33-year-old was visibly upset with the decision, and he also expressed his disappointment during the press interaction. While the Splash Brother gave a subdued and emotional reaction yesterday, he took a different route when coach Steve Kerr pulled off a similar decision in a game against the Phoenix Suns.

A video recently surfaced on the Internet of Thompson aggressively kicking the chair and repeatedly saying, “God damn,” during the Suns game in December 2023. Immediately Stephen Curry barged in to console the star, but he wasn’t in the mood to listen.

The Suns hosted the Golden State Warriors on 12th December, 2023. The game went down the wire for a close encounter in the last quarter. Klay Thompson, who has had a disappointing run throughout the season, didn’t produce much spark in the game. The Dubs star in his 27-minute stay dropped 7 points with 2-10 FG. Notably, he could find only one out of his 8 attempts from the arc.

Subsequently, it impacted his game time in the final moments of the game. With 6 minutes remaining on the clock, Kerr pulled out Thompson for Brandin Podziemski. However, the changes didn’t do the trick for the Dubs, as they took home a 119-116 loss.

While Kerr took the difficult call, it didn’t sit well with the 4x NBA Champion. He took the aggressive route. Following the game, he said, “Of course it frustrates me… Whatever. I deserved to be benched tonight. I played like crap,” reported The Athletic.

A Sport Illustrated article from November 25, 2023 revealed that Thompson had a similar moment during the game against the San Antonio Spurs. While there isn’t any video evidence for the act, this information is solely based on the article published by SI. 

The article revealed that Klay showed his frustration by kicking a chair, following a slow start after the first half. It also stated that the star threw two towels on the sidelines and headed to the locker room in frustration.
