Luka Doncic is here to stay. Well, if that wasn’t evident back when he made the move from Dallas to Hollywood, it’s crystal clear after yesterday’s massive announcement. The five-time All-NBA guard gave his nod to a three-year, $165 million maximum contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers. While the majority of Doncic’s teammates, and even head coach JJ Redick, were in the building to attend the contract extension presser, one man’s absence caught everyone’s attention.

Any guesses who? Well, if you watched yesterday’s presser, you must’ve seen everyone from Rui Hachimura to new signing DeAndre Ayton posing for a picture with Doncic. However, Doncic’s best and most important teammate, LeBron James, was nowhere to be seen during the event. As expected, James’ absence raised a lot of eyebrows, as many wondered why the Lakers veteran wasn’t present for Doncic’s extension. While no one really knew why LeBron did not attend the presser, it sure gave a bad look to the fans.

However, Mark Walter and Jeanie Buss made sure that James’ absence did not overshadow this massive offseason milestone, as they planned a huge surprise for Luka Doncic and a few of his teammates. The Lakers’ governor took Doncic and a few other Lakers stars for a trip to Las Vegas after the press conference concluded. Not just that, it wasn’t just another trip to Sin City as Buss made special arrangements for the superstar point guard.

Jeanie Buss surprised Doncic with a very special and unforgettable gift: a night with his favorite boy band, the Backstreet Boys. The 26-year-old guard and his teammates attended the Backstreet Boys concert at The Sphere in Vegas, which was a long-time dream come true for Doncic. For those of you who don’t remember, during one of the initial interviews in Southern California, the Slovenian star mentioned his love for the famous boy band, and Buss made sure his dream came true.

This sweet gesture from the Lakers’ governor made everyone realize that the evening was more than just a celebration of a financial milestone, but a gesture of appreciation for Luka Doncic’s trust and loyalty toward the franchise. Meanwhile, the Lakers star, accompanied by GM Rob Pelinka, head coach JJ Redick, and a few teammates, seemed to be having the time of his life, as several videos of his celebration emerged online.
