“Not Good Enough Anymore To Drag”: Warriors Confronted With Pressing Stephen Curry Question On Bay Area’s Popular Radio Show

Ouch! The Golden State Warriors’ troubles won’t end; especially after their loss to the Pacers. Just when it seemed like Stephen Curry & Co. finally figured out the season, they faced a massive blow. Curry has been on the firing line, facing the critics. One of these instances arrived on the Bay Area-bred radio show, 95.7 The Game, which dropped the hammer on the superstar with a pressing question.
The hosts of the radio show, Evan Giddings and Marc Grandi, were definitely not happy. They straight up put forth questions for Steph, asking if he’s still good enough like he was in his prime. Even though the 4x champ has dropped some of the greatest performances this season, he still finished a few games in single-digit scores with zero three-pointers; “He is not good enough anymore to drag requisite pieces around him as far as he used to be able to do even a year or two ago,” said Giddings.
“But one thing that caught my eye is this idea, we talk about a lot the on-off splits, how good are the Warriors when Curry’s on the floor, how good are they when he’s off the floor. Because historically they’ve been terrible when he’s off the floor.” This year, the Dubs are +22 points better when Steph is on the floor. While it may seem like a positive sign, comparatively, it’s a rather worrying one. This is because last year, it was +367 points, and then again in 2022, their championship year, it was +541.

Statistically, Stephen Curry hasn’t been at his best this season, despite claiming to be in his ‘prime’ in the 2023 off-season. However, addressing his slump, Steph said, “I’m never going to shy away from my responsibility… I didn’t play well tonight. Didn’t play a smart enough basketball game that could counter some of that pressure,” after the Pacers game.
“Our challenge, for this team, is to understand how we play offense, how we create shots… Being ready, being aggressive, not playing on your heels. For us, that’s when we’re at our best. We haven’t always done it. That’s why we’ve been inconsistent… There’s gotta be a solid chemistry between everybody and when there’s not, it looks like it did tonight.”
Now, GSW has 13 games remaining in their season and one of those will be an important game against the Rockets. So, Stephen Curry & Co. will quickly need to bring about some balance and consistency.

Is Stephen Curry responsible for the Dubs’ scary situation?
While he has been the centerpiece of the Warriors fold over the last decade, he can’t be the sole reason for the team’s current slump; especially in the game against the Pacers, the team lacked chemistry. The Warriors committed 14 turnovers and some of them occurred during the crucial last quarter.
Moreover, the Warriors also had another serious concern. After picking up a massive lead in the first half, they fell short by the second, going 57-44. The roster suffered a lack of defense, as Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam broke through with a 36-21 lead. While Steph isn’t in the best of his touch, it remains on the entire roster to take on the needed contributions.
