Draymond Green is not someone who shies away from controversy. In fact, if you hear that something controversial happened during a Golden State Warriors game, chances are Draymond was right in the thick of things. And tonight, Draymond risked serious repercussions as he thrust himself into the middle of another potential scandal, coming off the heels of his recent comments.
During Game 4 of the Dubs’ series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Jaden McDaniels committed a rip-through foul. But weirdly, the referee did not call the flagrant foul to the Warriors. And let’s just say Draymond Green was not amused by this decision. The Warriors veteran went up to all 3 of tonight’s officials to protest and pleaded his case to each of them.
And while it’s not clear what he said, we can make an educated guess. After all, Draymond is someone who’s frequently on the wrong side of such calls. So it’s likely he was asking the refs how Jaden got away with it. But Draymond needs to remember how vulnerable he is right now.

Draymond Green just went one by one to all three officials after that non-flagrant call on McDaniels. Not hard to guess his message.

Earlier in the first half, another questionable non-call added fuel to the fire. During a scramble for the ball, Green’s aggressive defense brought Donte DiVincenzo to the ground — a play that had all the makings of a flagrant. Yet, to the surprise of many, no whistle was blown. The officials let it slide entirely, not even calling a personal foul. The Timberwolves quickly called a timeout, possibly to regroup after the hard contact — and maybe to question the lack of a call.
The 4x NBA champion with the Dubs has picked up 5 technical fouls this postseason. And unlike the regular season, 7 is all it takes to get you suspended for one game. And every subsequent technical begets another suspension. Standing on thin ice already, the last thing Draymond wants to do is thrash around and lose his proverbial footing. Especially with Steph out injured.
But Draymond’s frustrations during this postseason have been quite apparent. And it all came to a head after he picked up that fifth technical foul we just talked about.

Draymond Green claps back at the alleged “angry, black man” narrative around him
After picking up his 5th tech of the postseason during Game 2 of the Minnesota series, Draymond Green crashed out. He went on a tirade, berating officials, screaming up and down the court. In short, he was a menace that even Steph Curry could not control despite his best efforts. Eventually, Steve Kerr had to remove Draymond Green from the game entirely.

But don’t think this saga ended there. After the game, reporters were in for a rude surprise as Draymond went off on them for pushing a narrative that paints him in a bad light. “I’m not an angry Black man,” said the Dubs veteran to the media.
“I’m a very successful, educated Black man with a great family. And I’m great at basketball, I’m great at what I do. So, the agenda to try to make me look like an angry Black man is crazy. I’m sick of it. It’s ridiculous,” said Green. Now, Draymond being upset over this has gone down like an airplane with no engine. Many are upset at him for allegedly playing the victim. And it’s not just fans — analysts aren’t impressed either.

ESPN’s Tim McMahon went off on Draymond recently. “Go away, Draymond. Shut up, dude. Do not play victim here. Don’t play the victim here. Stop doing flagrant stuff. We’re sick of it. We’re sick of you doing stupid, flagrant crap on a regular basis. It’s not an agenda, Draymond,” he said on the Hoop Collective podcast to Brian Windhorst.

Whether there’s really an agenda against him or not, Green certainly won’t appreciate McMahon’s comments. But Draymond can’t worry about that now. His team are at risk of crashing out of the Playoffs. And if he keeps putting himself in the line of fire by causing trouble with the officials, he may not be able to help his team out of dire straits.
