If you ask anyone who’s even remotely followed the NBA in the past decade about Kevin Durant, they will have good things to say. One of the greatest scorers of all time, some may even argue he’s the best scorer in the history of the league. Well, you might not even be wrong. His 27.22 points per game rank the sixth-best of all time, and his +7 relative shooting percentage is better than each of the five players ahead of him. However, apart from his identity of being an incredible scorer, many feel that Kevin Durant has not been able to touch the heights he was built for.
This question especially bugs fans after watching him fail miserably with the Phoenix Suns. Last season, the Suns, who built their big three of Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and KD, were swept in the first round by a young and hungry Minnesota team led by Anthony Edwards.
To make things worse, the Suns were not even able to make it to the play-in tournament this year. It has truly been a horror show in Arizona, and Durant’s time in the desert seems to be over. But before we talk about where he should move, there’s a huge question over Kevin Durant’s legacy. A fan questioned what went wrong, reacting to Durant’s 2014 MVP-winning speech.

“I was just watching @KDTrey5 mvp speech and Im so sad of how he was bound to be the face of the sport and most loved athlete in the world but was forced to be the villain and embraced that role, I was watching him so close for those 9 years and I KNOW he is not who he tries to be.” The user wrote on X. They expressed their feelings about how the Slim Reaper was supposed to be the face of the league, but has been forced to become a villain.
This comes after Durant went on a wild rant on X on Friday. The Suns veteran is known to be quite vocal, especially against critics.
Damn. Why are u talkin like I fell from grace because I went on a crazy drinking and gambling binge?? Stop being dramatic man Lolol

He did the same while replying to this fan. “Damn. Why are u talkin like I fell from grace because I went on a crazy drinking and gambling binge?? Stop being dramatic man Lolol” Durant replied. He stated that the fan is acting as if KD has fallen off real badly. Moreover, he pointed out that the fan should stop being this dramatic.
Indeed, it isn’t like Durant hasn’t become one of the most lethal scorers in the league. In fact, after leaving OKC, he went on to win back-to-back championships with the Golden State Warriors and even won the finals MVP while doing so.
While his time in Brooklyn and Phoenix did not yield another title, KD has remained one of the most feared players in the league. Despite the Suns’ disastrous campaign this season, the 36-year-old forward did make it to the All-Star team for the 15th time. So, it is not that he’s completely faded with time. In fact, there’s more to come as Durant seems to be getting ready to move away from Phoenix and start a new chapter in his career.
What’s your perspective on:
Is KD's legacy tarnished by recent failures, or do his past glories still shine bright?

While many tipped Houston to be the most likely destination, they’ve now got stiff competition from another team.
Houston faces stiff competition as another likely destination for KD emerges
A lengthy off-season awaits the Phoenix Suns. It has already been a month since we last saw Kevin Durant and Co. in action as their grueling season came to an early end. After a shocking season, many believe the time has come to trade the Slim Reaper and recoup some assets and financial flexibility to start a rebuild around Devin Booker. For the longest time now, everyone expected the Houston Rockets to make a move for the 36-year-old veteran superstar, given they needed a bona fide superstar in their ranks.
Moreover, they have all the assets to do so. Draft picks to young talent, you name it. However, they now have competition.
The Heat are likely to pursue Kevin Durant, but they will not be offering a significant package of future picks, per @flasportsbuzz (https://t.co/tqq11xT1hY).

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Miami Heat are also eyeing a move for the forward. “The sense here is that while the Heat might again pursue Phoenix’s Kevin Durant, Miami isn’t going to offer all of its first-round inventory for a 36-year-old with one year left on his contract,” Jackson stated.
He suggested that while Miami is rumored to be in pursuit of s superstar, they might not be willing to give a lot. The move will certainly be great for Miami as they will get a solid trio of Durant, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro.
Moreover, it will also fill the void of a seasoned scorer left by Jimmy Butler’s exit. As for Phoenix, there could be better offers, especially from Houston. By the looks of it, Miami will be hesitant to include their young star Kel’el Ware in exchange for Durant. They could offer the likes of Terry Rozier, Duncan Robinson, and Jaime Jaquez Jr., but will that be enough to attract Phoenix?

Only time will tell. It will be interesting to see how the Suns approach the Kevin Durant situation over the offseason, as the race to sign the veteran seems to be picking up some serious speed.
