What is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Salary?

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is making bank this season! And it’s all thanks to the massive maximum rookie contract extension he signed in 2021. It was a 5-year deal worth $179 million that netted him an average salary of $35.8 million. And for the current season, Shai is set to earn a whopping $35,859,950. This deal will run through the next two seasons, after which Shai will become an unrestricted free agent. Here’s how his compensation has changed through the years –

YEARGUARANTEED SALARYCUMULATIVE SALARY
2022/23$30,913,750$30,913,750
2023/24$33,386,852$64,300,600
2024/25$35,859,952$100,160,550
2025/26$38,333,050$138,493,600
2027/28$40,806,150$179,299,750

If he does choose to extend, though, Shai has no dearth of options. He was already eligible for a huge contract already. A supermax $293 million for 4 years kind of huge. But winning MVP gets you an insane upgrade. Shai is now eligible for a 5-year, $380 million supermax extension. That’s $76 million annually! Over double his previous average yearly salary. But if he wins the chip for them this season, we don’t think the Oklahoma City Thunder will hesitate to give it to him!

But hefty as it is, Shai doesn’t rely solely on his NBA salary. “I want to be a well-rounded human being—not just a basketball player but a businessman, father, and husband. I want to check all the boxes,” he said after firing his agent earlier this year. To that end, he supplements his salary with endorsement deals he has with several global brands. And these deals open doors for him that his basketball career otherwise wouldn’t.

What are the brands endorsed by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander?

Now, Shai may not have an agent for his NBA contracts as he attempts to become better at business. But Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s off-court endorsement operations are overseen by Simon Gebrelul of Isla Management. Simon secures marketing deals and brand partnerships for Shai. But most importantly, he lets him focus on the game. With 4 million followers on Instagram, SGA features sponsored content from high-profile companies such as Skims, Canada Goose, and Converse. These deals contribute to his estimated $18 million in annual endorsement income.

In 2024, Gilgeous-Alexander switched up his relationship with Converse, signing a multi-year extension. But it wasn’t an ordinary deal. Shai was named the brand’s “creative director of basketball.” A first for both Converse and Shai. Valued at roughly $15 million per season, the agreement empowers him to design his own logo and lead the creation of his first signature shoe, the “Shai 001,” which debuted in February and is scheduled for public release this fall.

Beyond branded content, SGA has become a fixture in fashion media. He has appeared on the covers of GQ and Dazed, and attended the Met Gala three years in a row from 2021 to 2023. And you can see his fit pics on Instagram, which often feature the brands he endorses. During offseasons, he travels to fashion hubs like France and Spain to collaborate with industry figures and connect with style-minded athletes. Just recently, Shai linked up with Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior. And it just goes to show his growing, global influence in the fashion world.

What is the worth of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s house? Where is it located?

SGA purchased a luxury, six-bedroom mansion in Burlington, Ontario, worth $6.1 million back in spring 2023. With 10706 square feet of space, the mansion seemed like the home of his dreams. However, it all took a left turn very quickly. A couple of days after he moved in, they had a visitor who came looking for the previous owner, Aiden Pleterski. It seems Pleterski was a “crypto king” who went bankrupt and lost his investors a lot of money. SGA and his wife’s interaction with the “visitor” was unpleasant, to say the least.

So, they moved houses soon after. And moving houses constantly must be irksome when you own the things Shai does. He’s the owner of several luxury vehicles that will make your mouth water if you’re a gearhead.

Does Shai Gilgeous-Alexander have a Lamborghini? A look into his car collection

Shai’s garage is packed with some seriously eye-catching rides. First up is his Mercedes G 63 AMG—five seats, rugged yet sleek, and straight from the German automaker’s playbook. But he didn’t stop at just one Mercedes: he’s also been spotted behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Maybach S 680 and another high-performance AMG model, underscoring his love for the brand. He’s also got a Lamborghini Urus, the only SUV Lamborghini makes.

Now, let’s talk about the flashy stuff. Unlike many who’ve waited forever, Shai actually got his Tesla Cybertruck on time. But Shai is not a fan of the pickup’s polarizing design. He’s even been photographed leaning against a McLaren, adding supercar street cred. And rounding out his collection is a Lamborghini Huracán, which you can spot in the post above. For someone who clearly loves cars, it’s kind of surprising he only has one true supercar—but what a supercar it is.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Professional Career

If you’ve followed his career, you know one thing for a fact. Shai’s journey in the NBA has been wild. Drafted 11th by Charlotte in 2018 and immediately flipped to the LA Clippers, he told reporters, “I feel like they don’t have an alpha-dog point guard right now and a guy that brings ultimate leadership to the group. I feel that’s one of my biggest attributes.” He got better and better, even leading L.A. with 25 points in a playoff game against Golden State. Though he finished sixth in Rookie of the Year voting, the Clippers moved him that offseason—along with a ton of picks—to OKC for Paul George. Doc Rivers later admitted, “Man, can we give them somebody else? Like, we cannot give up Shai,” and history proves he was right.

Once with the  Oklahoma City Thunder, Shai steadily leveled up: 19 points per game as a rookie, then around 24 ppg for the next two seasons. In 2022–23, he exploded for 31.4 ppg (fourth in the league) and set a new bar with 150 steals in 2023–24. He said, “It’s like I’m addicted to the feeling of getting better,” and you can see it. That grind brought the Thunder back to the playoffs after a three-year hiatus.

Last season was something else. Shai led the league with 32.7 ppg, snagged MVP honors, and carried the Thunder to the Finals. In the Western Conference Finals, he helped eliminate the Timberwolves in five games and even earned WCF MVP. Now, Shai has become the lifeline of this Thunder team. And they may end up as NBA champs this year!

Between MVP honors, a massive salary, killer endorsement deals, and a sweet car collection, Shai’s truly living the dream. From Hamilton kid to NBA royalty, Shai is still just scratching the surface. With Finals on deck and that Supermax lurking, there’s seriously no telling how high he’ll go.
