The Denver Nuggets snapped the New York Knicks’ 4-game winning streak with a dominant performance tonight. Jalen Brunson and Co. struggled against the defending Champions and lost 113-100. Brunson had a decent performance despite the loss, scoring 26 points and 9 assists. After the game, the 6’2 Knicks guard revealed his one glaring weakness that cost them tonight’s game.

Brunson believed the Knicks’ lack of size played a massive role in their washout against Denver. The Knicks have relied heavily on center Isaiah Hartenstein due to their injury-riddled roster. And Brunson claims Isaiah needs more help from him and his teammates. “He’s kind of alone down there. It’s tough.” The 6’2 Brunson blamed himself for not being able to contribute on the board, “I didn’t really do much of the rebounding part, so I gotta do my part.”

The Knicks have been extremely shorthanded for the majority of the season. They are forced to play small because most of their star Big Men are out due to injury. Their 7-foot center Mitchell Robinson has been out for over three months following ankle surgery. 6’8 Forward Julius Randle has also missed significant time due to a dislocated shoulder. OG Anunoby recently returned to the lineup, giving the Knicks some hope. But he has been moved back to the injury report after reaggravating his elbow injury during last week’s Kings clash.

With most of their Big Men injured, Hartenstein has done a great job to help the Knicks succeed. He is averaging 7.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks. However, he needs more support from Jalen Brunson and Co. until the injured stars return.

The shorthanded Knicks might soon get a huge relief

New York’s size problem was exposed in tonight’s loss against Denver. While Jalen Brunson and Co. usually match well with most teams, they fell short against the Nuggets due to their big lineup. Denver is a highly skilled team with big men like Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, and Michael Porter Jr. working on both ends. They dominated the shorthanded Knicks and got an easy win at home. Fortunately, the Knicks might soon get a huge sigh of relief as their center Mitchell Robinson is nearing his return.

Robinson has made great progress in his recovery and even participated in Wednesday’s team practice. According to NBA Insider Brian Windhorst, Robinson is expected to return to the Knicks lineup before the end of March. That is great news for Jalen Brunson and Co. ahead of the playoffs. The Knicks are currently 5th in the Eastern Conference standings and will get better when Mitchell Robinson returns.
