Stephen Curry has had a positive impact on the Bay Area in more ways than one. Of course, he has brought joy to millions of Golden State Warriors fans by playing a pivotal role in winning four NBA titles in the last nine seasons. However, his philanthropic efforts have arguably had an even greater positive impact on numerous lives, particularly those of underprivileged children.

Steph, along with his wife Ayesha, co-founded Eat.Learn.Play foundation in 2019. The foundation aims to address the fundamental barriers to opportunity and equity facing children and families in the Bay Area of California, focusing on three key pillars: nutrition, education, and physical activity.

Curry recently posted a story on his Instagram handle about the strides made by the Eat.Learn.Play foundation in 2023. The story was accompanied by captions, which read, “Many accomplishments made this year. Extremely grateful for your Eat.Pray.Learn team! Make moves for Oakland. More to come in 2024.” 

Despite the great strides made by the foundation, Curry pledged further significant monetary help.

Steph and Ayesha aim to raise $50 million by 2026

In September 2023, Steph and Ayesha pledged to raise around $50 million by 2026 for schools in Oakland, former home of the Golden State Warriors. In a recent interview, Eat.Learn.Play foundation’s CEO Chris Helfrich said, “Nearly 35,000 students go to eat, learn, and play every day. We’re committed to raising and investing $50 million across all of our pillars to make sure we are meeting kids where they are, with the resources and support that they need.” 

During an interview with NBA Bay Area, Steph also spoke about committing to raise $50 million. He said, “It’s obviously a big step for us. It’s a big commitment. But it’s something we know we can execute. Excited to see, like you saw today, the kids’ faces and their joy around being in school and feeling like they can thrive to their highest potential.” Since its inception in 2019, Eat.Learn.Play foundation has raised over $47 million for underprivileged families and kids of Oakland.
