Trade Rumors Leave Andrew Wiggins’ Love Undeterred: “I Don’t Worry”

The Golden State Warriors got a big win against the Philadelphia 76ers tonight. Stephen Curry and Co. decimated the Joel Embiid-less Sixers and blew them out 127-104. But it was not Steph’s heroics that got the Warriors over the hump tonight. Forward Andrew Wiggins stepped up to the occasion and put up a dominant performance amid recent trade rumors. He led the game in scoring with 21 points and 10 rebounds and was the only player to score 20+ points in tonight’s game.
Wiggins’ name has been in the rumor mill since the mid-season trade window opened. However, the Warriors forward addressed the rumors and claimed he remains unbothered by them. “I just hoop and I don’t worry about what I can’t control.” Wiggins said after his impressive performance. Despite not being fazed by the trade talks, Wiggins expressed his desire to remain with the Warriors for the rest of the season. “I love the fans, the organization, the culture, all my teammates.” The former All-Star added.

Andrew Wiggins shut down all trade rumors that have been at an all-time high following his injury during Saturday’s game against the Hawks. Wiggins left Saturday’s game after playing only 19 minutes because of an ankle injury. He got ruled out of the following game against the Brooklyn Nets due to the injury. Wiggins made a huge impact on his return tonight. Stephen Curry had a rare bad game and struggled to get anything going in his favor. He only had 9 points and 3 rebounds in the game. Wiggins took control of the situation and led the Warriors to a much-needed victory amid Steph’s shooting struggles.

The Warriors need Andrew Wiggins back in 2022 form
Wiggins joined the Warriors in the middle of the 2019-20 season. He became a key member of the team in a short span and helped Stephen Curry and Co. win a Championship in 2022. Wiggins turned into a superstar in the 2021-22 season and had an unbelievable run in the playoffs. He averaged 18.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in the NBA Finals. There were also some talks about Wiggins potentially winning the Finals MVP trophy over Steph.

However, Wiggins has failed to regain his 2022 form since winning his first Championship. The 2023-24 season has been the worst scoring season of his decade-long career. Wiggins is averaging only 12.2 points and 4.2 rebounds this season. The Warriors need Wiggins to play like he did tonight for the remainder of the season. He needs to turn back the clock and play great on a more consistent basis to keep his name away from the trade rumors.
