24 Hours After Heartwarming Note, Austin Reaves Responds to Former Lakers Teammate’s Latest Feat With 3-Word Message

Germany raised their name as the champions of the FIBA World Cup. They defeated USA in the Semis and then Slovenia in the Final. This showing earned huge props from many in the world and proved the worth of team play. It also raised the stocks of the national team considerably. While the Germans celebrated their triumph, the USA couldn’t even get to the third place. However, Austin Reaves was on fire throughout the tournament.

Despite a disappointing end to the campaign, he must be re-energized for the upcoming NBA season. In that wake, he gave the props to his former teammate.

Austin Reaves finds solace in ex-teammate’s success

Reaves finished the tournament with a bang, racking up 23 points in the third-place affair against Canada. He finished with 21 points and 23 points in the last two crucial games and was the second option behind Anthony Edwards. He displayed the same motor as the NBA 2023 Playoffs. Because of his riveting performances, the USA could stay in games but still finished fourth. However, it was his former Lakers teammate Dennis Schroeder who took the event by storm.

In the title game against Serbia, he was on fire, notching 28 points on 9/17 shooting. Against Latvia, the Guard had shot a horrendous 4/26. After that, against the USA, he had 17 points and nine assists. He finished the tournament with 19.1 Points Per Game and 6.1 Assists Per Game. Because of this, FIBA awarded him the MVP for this World Cup. Upon this achievement, Reaves extended his wishes. On his Instagram story, he congratulated Schroeder, “Much Deserved Champ 🙏”.

Schroeder is having a blast this year and the FIBA run has to be his most prolific moment as a baller. Working hard alongside a squad that has a decent wealth of experience, he turned up huge.  

This follows after Schroeder posted an incredible note about Reaves yesterday. After the USA’s loss to Germany, Reaves came to the German locker room where he and the FIBA WC MVP hugged.

Reaves and Schroeder were cooking for the Lakers last season

Hilibiily Kobe ended the unprecedented 2023 Lakers Playoffs run on a high note. Unexpectedly, he averaged almost 17 points on 46.4% shooting and an incredible 44.4% from deep. His performance became a talisman for the low-seeded Lakers to take down high-ranked squads. While Schroeder averaged just around 7 points for the team, he made a huge three in the crucial Play-in game versus Timberwolves.

He ended up with 21 points and without him, the Lakers’ run could have ended before it even began. However, after the Raptors got Schroeder and the Lakers extended Reaves, the pro paths have diverged for now. But not their bond, which is blossoming more than ever.
