A few eyebrows were raised when it was revealed that LeBron James’ eldest son Bronny James topped college athletes with the highest-valued NIL deal at $5.9 million. He was followed by Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shaduer Sanders at $4.8 million. The Akron Hammer’s youngest son, Bryce is also making a name for himself, having signed a NIL contract with Klutch Sports in December 2022, making him the highest-valued high school athlete in NIL rankings. But 2024, began with a decline for the brothers as their NIL valuation took a little hit.

Bryce James, a 6-foot-6 junior shooting guard, began his junior career with Sierra Canyon in November. Bronny also played for Sierra Canyon before heading to the USC Trojans to begin his collegiate career.

The year 2023 was a challenging year for Bronny James. The 19-year-old athlete suffered a cardiac arrest in July last year during a basketball practice at the University of Southern California and was hospitalized. It was later revealed his cardiac arrest was caused by a congenital heart defect. As a result, he remained out of action for nearly five months, delaying his debut with the Trojans.

On his return to the court, he scored four points and two assists in his first-ever college game. But his absence may have had a toll on his valuation as well. According to On3.com, his valuation dropped by $2k. Bronny makes $5.9 million from his NIL deals with companies like Nike, Beats by Dre, and PSD Underwear. This is the second hit his valuation has taken though not as big as the first one. At the start of 2023, his NIL valuation stood at $7.2 million with his hiatus in July contributing to his reduction current valuation. Still, he remains on top of the list with a valuation of $5.9 million with $13.5 million social media followers. Even Bronny’s younger brother, Bryce James suffered a decline in his NIL valuation due to a key decision.

Bryce James earned a major NIL deal with Klutch Sports in December 2022. As a result, according to the On3 NIL ranking, he is the number one rank in high school basketball with a valuation of $1.2 million and 1.9 million followers on Instagram. However, as he chose to leave Notre Dame, his NIL valuation dropped by $742. On top of that, he also failed to make the Top 25 High-School Players list, thus lowering his NIL worth in total by $1.3K.

2024 could prove to be a crucial year for the brothers as they continue to follow in the footsteps of their legendary father. Away from the business side of things, the brothers have started to establish their presence on the court.
