The Suns officials can say that there isn’t any issue with the team, but the reality is spilled all over the street. Starting with Bradley Beal, it’s the most unfavorable contract in the league with the underperforming guard refusing to move out with a no-trade clause. Following that, the team traded out Jusuf Nurkic, who had a strained relationship with Coach Mike Budenholzer, after he warmed the bench for a month. Now, finally, Kevin Durant. Following the trade drama, the question falls on the superstar’s future on the team.

Reportedly, the Suns broke KD’s trust with their trade move. Just hours before the deadline, the Warriors pursued the Suns for a three-team deal to rope in Durant for a reunion which the 2x Champ refused. Before that, multiple teams seemed to have approached and the Suns frequently made it clear that it wouldn’t trade the Slim Reaper. But at the same time, they mentioned that it would listen to all the offers coming their way. This didn’t sit well with the superstar.

Moreover, with only a year left for Kevin Durant‘s free agency, it leaves the franchise in an uncertain spot. At the same time, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne described the Suns locker room as a toxic atmosphere with players walking on eggshells. Before we take a look at KD’s future in the franchise, let’s address the toxicity. Ahead of tonight’s match-up against the Jazz, a reporter asked Coach Mike about the locker room situation, confirming whether it was actually toxic. Budenholzer instantly denied it, saying, “Not true.”

When the reporter further asked for an elaboration, the coach said, “Making it through the season. All the things that come with that are never easy. So, it’s not like this is a perfect or easy ride, but I think the guys’ commitment to each other, the guy’s willingness to learn and grow, it’s good. That’s what I see.” Well, that’s not the response we wanted to hear. Anyway, let’s take a look at KD’s future.

Will Kevin Durant stay with the Suns?

A day ago, the reports almost made us believe that Kevin Durant would join the Warriors. But at the last moment, KD reportedly declined the deal, leaving the Warriors to sign desperate Jimmy Butler. Now that the Warriors’ equation is out of the way, what is KD’s future? The superstar will enter the free agency in 2026 summer and the Suns haven’t extended their contract.

Seeking clarity on the Slim Reaper’s future, a reporter asked the Suns’ GM James Jones ahead of tonight’s Utah clash. Notably, including tonight’s game, KD didn’t play two games in a row. Responding to the brewing rumors surrounding KD, Jones said, “What we do internally, we keep internally. And it always gets noisy when you’re not winning.”

“Kevin’s been around the noise his entire career… He’s a pro. He’s the best at it. Like I said, it gets noisy when you’re not winning. And the simple fact is we haven’t won enough, and if we’re not winning enough, storylines pop up,” said Jones, making it sound like these rumors emerged because of the team’s winning percentage.
