The Golden State Warriors took their place back as the NBA champions this season. After a two-year slumber, the Bay won their fourth title in eight years. In addition, it was a legacy-defining final for Stephen Curry. Likewise, his emotions came pouring out after the conquest. And his teammate Draymond Green revealed the reason behind it.

The Baby Face Assassin is one of the NBA’s 75 greatest players of all time. However, his legacy was full of questions. Mainly, Steph had no Finals MVP award in his cabinet. Moreover, joining forces with Kevin Durant added to it. But this season, Curry proved everyone wrong. And his emotions came flowing out.

Recently, while in conversation with JJ Redick, Green explained why Curry was so passionate during the 2022 Finals.

Stephen Curry wasn’t letting anything stop him

Green has been with Steph since the start of his own career. They have gone through all the ups and downs together. By far the toughest phase likely came when Durant left the Bay. Curry found out from Instagram as he landed in New York. Moreover, the media has arguably not been too kind to the three-point king. With all these emotions on his mind, Steph’s passion was in full flourish. And when his teammate Green came under the fire, Steph brought hell to the Boston Celtics and their fans.

Green said: “I never expected 21,000 people to be yelling f**k you Draymond. Then you’re running down the court, and on the sidelines, they say f**k you b**ch. I’m like woah, these guys are short of saying everything except the n-word.” Green continued, “I think he visibly saw that… But at the end of Game 4, on the court, I said thank you.”

Curry was in a different realm in these Finals. He likely secured his legacy by averaging 31.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists. His performance won him the award that ran away from him all his career, the Finals MVP. He shut down any questions raised about his superstar caliber with his dominant run. Bailing out his teammates and proving he can be the leader, Steph arguably solidified himself as an all-time great.
