“Would Love To Be on the Team”: $260 Million NBA Star Claims To Be “Deserving” To Join LeBron James’ Paris 2024 Dream

The competition is heating up. With the Olympic excitement of representing Team USA, the All-Star players have joined in by showing their interest in the same. Amidst this, the debutante of the 2023 FIBA World Cup expresses his desire to be part of the team again along with his Team USA partner. 

The Indiana Pacers’ point guard, Tyrese Haliburton, recently gave his perspective on representing Team USA and the All-Stars showing their interest in playing for the team.

In a recent interview with the Atlantic, Tyrese Haliburton spoke on NBA star players like LeBron James and Stephen Curry showing their interest in playing for Team USA in Paris next year. The Pacers point guard expressed his desire to be part of the team, along with his good friend and Minnesota’s shooting guard, Anthony Edwards.

Both players played for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup 2023, but ended up losing. However, team USA secured their place in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Haliburton, with expressing his disappointment over the loss, went on to claim that both of them deserved to be part of the team.

“But I think that me and Ant, we both feel like we were deserving to be on the team, and we would love to be on the team”, he told the Atlantic. 

The Pacers point guard recently got his $260 million extension with the franchise. Haliburton is now averaging 20 points and 12.3 assists for the Pacers, with the player being one of the youngest stars leading the second unit on an American team.

The All-Stars are in the running

According to reports, various NBA star players are interested in representing Team USA at the Olympics in Paris next year. These include the NBA All-Stars, LeBron James and Stephen Curry. 

James has previously played at the Olympics and even took home gold in 2008 in Beijing and 2012 in London in addition to a bronze in 2004 in Athens. In a recent interview with ESPN, the four-time NBA champion also talked about calling up fellow star players, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, to join the U.S. Olympic squad.

Curry has reportedly expressed his desire to play for Team USA but hasn’t fully committed yet. This came from the head coach of Curry’s team, Stever Cerr, who is also the coach of the national team. The player has never played for the team in the Olympics before, but there are high chances of him doing so this time.

On the other side, Durant has led the USA team to gold in the 2016 and 2021 Olympics. In a recent preseason media day, the Suns forward made his intentions of joining the team very clear.
