This week, NCAA Women’s basketball’s South Carolina beat Howard in a blowout 79-21 game. The first half of the game stood out, with Howard scoring only 4 points against South Carolina’s 44. Unfortunately for LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, fans ended up connecting Howard’s loss to the Lakers performing this season.

The Lakers have been struggling this entire season, and have not been able to gain any momentum despite James’ high average.

While the NCAA and NBA aren’t the same, the abysmal score surely caught everyone’s eye. Fans were eager to make fun of the Lakers, asking whether this was a Lakers game in disguise.

Furthermore, fans seem to be pressed about various factors. One of them is James’ performance, which has failed to steer the team to wins. While the team managed to beat the Toronto Raptors in their recent encounter, consistency has also been an issue. The team has won three out of their last ten games.

Out of those wins, two have been after James‘ 50-point performances.

Fans made sure people were aware of their frustrations. Many spoke about Howard just being the Lakers, playing against any team in the NBA. The Lakers-Toronto Raptors game scoreboard was shared, where LA was down 24 in the first quarter itself. Additionally, fans even joked about Howard scoring more against the Lakers than just four points.

Certain fans even spoke of choosing South Carolina over the Lakers.

Despite the inconsistency and lack of momentum, the loyal Lakers fan remains hopeful of improvement. Russell Westbrook–who has underperformed this season–dropped 22 against the Raptors in their last win. James finished the 128-123 encounter with 36 points, making it yet another high-scoring game for him.

Coming back after three straight losses, this win is bound to provide a boost. Furthermore, the Lakers are ninth in the Western Conference. This only confirms their spot for the play-in tournament and not the playoffs. Observing their current wins and losses, James and the Lakers need to gain momentum if they want a proper playoff run.
