Unquestionably one of the best basketball players of all time, LeBron James has accomplished a great deal both on and off the court. He has achieved all there is to achieve on the floor throughout his storied 20-year NBA career. Some of his achievements include four titles and four MVP trophies, among others.
He has also advocated for positive change in his community and beyond by using his platform as a professional athlete to bring attention to significant social concerns. However, his most recent honor—which honors his influence off the field—will undoubtedly make him tear up.

LeBron will have his induction into the APS Athletics Hall of Fame as a “special contributor.” His induction is not based on his basketball accomplishments. It is a tribute to his efforts to give back to his community. The range of LeBron James’ charitable work in Akron goes beyond sports. He started the ‘I Promise School’, a public primary school, in 2018. It aims to assist at-risk kids in succeeding both in and outside of the classroom. The school offers free meals, tutoring, access to a food bank for their families, uniforms, bicycles, and transportation to students.
Lebron’s humanitarian heart established The LeBron James Family Foundation. It aspires to have a good influence on children’s and young adults’ lives through education. The foundation promotes an active lifestyle. The Wheels for Ed program, one of the foundation’s programs, gifts children with bicycles to promote physical activity and raise attendance rates. Joe Vassalotti, the athletic director for APS had much praise for Lebron. He said Lebron has “supported not only our student-athletes but our district as a whole.”
