NBA superstar LeBron James has arguably been the face of the league for years now. Even at 37, he is one of the best-performing players in the league. Age has slowed him down, however, he has adapted himself better than anyone could have possibly imagined. Last season, he averaged more than 30 points per game in what turned out to be a terrible season for the Los Angeles Lakers, failing to even make the play-in tournament.

This was the first time he was averaging more than 30 after more than 10 years. The last time when he averaged 30, he was still playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2007-08 season, his first stint for the Cavs.

The Cleveland Cavaliers selected the local kid from Akron, Ohio as the overall number one pick in the 2003 NBA draft. He was already dubbed the ‘Chosen One’ to emulate the achievements of NBA all-time great Michael Jordan. There were huge expectations on him to deliver a championship to a city that had never won the title before.

Even though he could not deliver a title during his first stint, he led them to a title during his second. Fast forward to 2022, and he has become one of the best players ever to set foot in the league. Because of his superstardom, a signed 2003 LeBron James Exquisite Collection patch card sold for a record-breaking $5.2 million in a private sale.

On the other hand, a card featuring three of the sporting world’s most iconic figures is currently up for grabs, as per reports. It is an autographed card featuring Babe Ruth, Muhammad Ali, and Michael Jordan. However, it does not look like it would break the record set by James’ card as the top bid currently is at $12,407.

When LeBron James first joined the league, he was a high flyer who scored most of his points closer to the ring. He was also one of the best defenders and shot blockers. However, there were concerns about his shot efficiency. So a young James went to work.

In his sophomore year, his FG% went up by 6% and his 3P% went up by 6% as well. However, he did not rely on three-pointers like most players at the time. He relied on his athleticism and the ability to finish and mid-range jumpers. And on the defensive end, he went full throttle.

As the game transitioned to higher rates of three-point attempts, he was not left behind. He improved his shot behind the three-point arc and had more attempts. And the former MVP picked and chose occasions to go full throttle, like a breakaway slam. This strategy during the regular season has worked wonders and allowed him to go full throttle when the playoffs come. After not making the playoffs last season, it will be interesting to see how the four-time NBA champion comes back this year.
