Dangerous Violence Forced Coaches to Stop Game as Shaquille O’Neal Lost Control in a Resurfaced Video From 1992

As the 2023 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament unfolded, many fans got to see some surprising outcomes. With many lower-seeded teams pulling off upsets, March Madness is always entertaining to watch. Amidst the college craze, a resurfaced video of Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal resurfaced and it revealed the four-time NBA champion’s wild side. So much so that the coaches had to step in to prevent further violence.

In the resurfaced video, Shaquille O’Neal can be seen almost losing his cool while playing at LSU. The college game was from 1992 when LSU went up against Arkansas and the game got more heated than usual.

During the game, things already had gotten iffy between Shaq and some players from Arkansas who tried to slow the big man down in the paint. Some hard fouls and excessive defense on Shaq led to him losing his cool, eventually.

Every time Shaq got the ball, the seven-footer was triple-teamed in order to reduce his dominance. However, during one play, Shaq ended up losing his cool when he was fouled hard by the opposing player.

Arkansas player Todd Day came up from behind and fouled the four-time NBA champion hard. That was it for O’Neal as he swung his arms, leading Day to back up. And before you know it, officials and head coaches from both teams had to step in.

That wasn’t all, as another brawl almost took place right after this sequence. Players were separated and cooler heads eventually prevailed. However, this whole sequence did bring the game to a stop for a while.

Shaquille O’Neal finished the game with 27 points on 9-18 shooting. He even shot 9-12 from the free-throw line. Along with that, Shaq had 16 rebounds and 3 blocks for the game. However, it wasn’t enough as LSU lost to Arkansas 101-90.

Shaq’s hot temper in the league

Shaquille O’Neal went on to become one of the most dominant centers in NBA history. His four NBA championships and endless highlight videos are proof of that. However, there were times when Shaq lost his cool in the NBA as well.

Although the rules of college basketball and the NBA were quite different. So, O’Neal was fined and suspended for his actions in the league. One of the most infamous brawls that the Lakers legend got into was with Charles Barkley.
