Tagging in as an analyst, the Big Diesel is known for his stern takes. But the essence of NBA on TNT lies with the laughs and jokes among the crew members. Recently, an exact joke got a renowned comedian in deep trouble.
Aries Spears is probably one of the best stand-up comedians in the business. However, his recent joke quickly turned into horror for the 47-year-old. Notably, the American comedian took a crack at Grammy-winning diva, Lizzo. The huge backlash came his way after Spears commented on Lizzo’s body. Accusing him of body-shaming, fans were not happy with his display of humor. He later backtracked on his comments and had nothing but praise for Lizzo.

And during his recent podcast, Shaquille O’Neal sided with Spears amidst the controversy. As an avid lover of comedy, the four-time NBA champion classified Spears’ comments as a mere joke.

Shaq sighed at his co-host Nischelle Turner who accused Spears of fat shaming. Shaq loves himself a good laugh, and comedians seem to be among his favorite people. When it came to Spears, for Shaq, the comedian did his job which was to make people laugh. Instead, the Los Angeles Lakers great blamed people for being too sensitive and making such a huge deal. In addition, he wants them to leave the comedian alone.

The NBA Hall of Famer said: “You all sensitive people can’t pick and choose when you want to be sensitive. That’s all I’m saying. That man is a comedian, Leave Dave Chapelle, Corey Holcomb, and Aries Spears alone.”
