“Drose 2.0”: NBA World Holds It’s Breath as Ja Morant Limps Off the Floor During Grizzlies Win vs Thunder

In the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant aimed for the basket, jumped, and released the ball. However, he twisted his ankle while landing on the floor and instantly went down the ground. He looked like he was in immense pain. Morant was eventually helped off the floor as he limped towards the locker room. The sight of him wincing in pain left NBA Twitter in panic.

Ja Morant’s injury came in the latter half of the fourth quarter. Despite Morant’s injury, the Memphis Grizzlies secured a win against Oklahoma City Thunder (121-110). Grizzlies’ star Jaren Jackson Jr. was the star performer with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and shot 43.8% from the floor. Despite a good win, fans are worried about Ja Morant and they hope to see him get better quickly. They took to Twitter to express their emotions.

NBA Twitter left in worry after Ja Morant limps off the floor

As the video of Ja Morant limping off the floor made the rounds on Twitter, fans prayed for a speedy recovery. Many felt that it was a serious injury since Morant was in so much pain. While they stated that he needs to take better care of his knees and ankles, they were quick to compare his situation to that of three-time NBA All-Star Derrick Rose. “Drose 2.0,” said one tweet in particular. Fans also stated that the Grizzlies have always had the worst luck with injuries.

Derrick Rose was the 2010-11 season MVP. However, following that season, he was constantly met with injuries to his knees and ankles. This hampered his growth as an NBA Player. On the other hand, since 2019, Ja Morant has also dealt with several injuries to his back, ankle, knees, and legs.

In fact, 11 injury reports have been drawn up since his rookie year in 2019. With this history, fans are worried that Morant’s career will be driven by injuries, much like Derrick Rose’s.

Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins gave the press an update about Morant’s injury. He stated that Morant has tweaked his ankle. However, more will be known after medical imaging is done. An official update is expected tomorrow. Jenkins also gave an insight into how he plans for the team to cope with this situation.
