The NBA has had many debatable topics over the decades that fans, analysts, and even players indulge in. However, the one constant chatter that nobody ever gets bored of is the GOAT debate. Who is the greatest of all time in the NBA? Is it LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, or someone else altogether? Well, Dwyane Wade is barely interested in this topic and doesn’t want to pick sides either.
It’s okay if the GOAT debate between Michael Jordan and LeBron James never ends
After spending 16 seasons in the NBA and having won three NBA championships, the 39-year-old retired NBA player had played a vital role in Miami Heat‘s championship runs, alongside Chris Bosh and LeBron James. He spent the majority of his career there until he moved to the Chicago Bulls. Although he was listed in the NBA’s top 75 players of all time, in celebration of their 75th anniversary, he has never been part of the GOAT debate.

However, he has made peace with where he stands in terms of this discussion. In a telephonic interview, Wade stated, “Michael Jordan separated himself. LeBron James separated himself. I’m not in the [greatest of all time] conversation with those guys. I grew up in Chicago. Michael Jordan was the lifeline for me and my brothers when we didn’t even have food to eat.”

“Michael Jordan is the first iconic figure in this game, the one who took this game to heights it had never been to,” he further explained. “I feel like we all have generational GOATs. In my generation, that is my GOAT. It’s going to be Kobe [Bryant] and LeBron as the new generation’s GOATs, and that’s okay. It’s okay not to have one GOAT. Everyone doesn’t have to be on the same page.”

But has Dwyane Wade admitted who the GOAT is for him?
Wade emphasized the fact that the GOAT debate is quite subjective, and he is right. But has the Heat legend ever expressed who he would pick amongst the obvious two, Bron and MJ? Well, yes.
Despite being a close friend and former teammate to the L-train, the way Dwyane expresses his admiration for Michael Jordan, it’s quite clear. Even when he made his appearance on the ‘I Am Athlete’ Podcast, he blatantly picked MJ, with no hard feelings for LBJ.

“I come from a Jordan era. I am biased and I’m going to be biased until the day I pass away. Michael Jordan will be my GOAT,” Wade continued. “I’m not taking anything away from LeBron. LeBron is amazing. But Michael Jordan is my GOAT.”
Because this is a topic that will never reach a consensus, will forever remain unsolved. But if someone were to ask you, who is the greatest of all time, what would your answer be?
