Dennis Rodman was the man with almost all the spotlight back in the 1990s. The five-time NBA champion had a different life and his popularity off-court could only be outmatched by the best player in the league, Michael Jordan. Rodman was a confident personality who liked to live his life in a certain way but received a lot of criticism from people in and around the sport of basketball. The two-time defensive player of the year remembers some of it differently.

The two-time All-Star had his face plastered over all kinds of magazines and publications. To the point, where he considered himself to be more famous than even the legendary Bulls no 23, Michael Jordan.

Rodman on being more famous than Michael Jordan

Dennis Rodman was a man of his own choice and he claimed that no one understood him at the time. He used to appear everywhere, in all kinds of shows, productions, events and festivals. As a matter of fact, he once appeared on the WCW alongside Hulk Hogan, surprising fans all around basketball and beyond.

Back in 2019, the five-time NBA Champion discussed?his life in Chicago and what went beyond the three-peat NBA championship run. ?I think that right there is a statement like that where I was saying that, too, like for a minute, I was more famous than Michael Jordan in Chicago. I was different, I was doing all kinds of unique things like going on shows dressed in drag,? Rodman recalled.

The legendary Bulls no. 91 mentioned how he grabbed eyeballs because he was drastically different than Michael Jordan off-court and it made him somewhat more intriguing to the audience. He mentioned how during his whole time with the Chicago Bulls he was at the top of the world.

The Bulls no. 91 also revealed how having 72 wins in a season was extremely difficult to achieve. And it happened during Rodman?s first year with the Chicago side. It further opened up all the opportunities for the next chapter in his life.

Rodman?s career before the Bulls

The five-time NBA champion started his NBA career in 1986 and was a great player even before he was drafted to the Bulls. Dennis Rodman played seven seasons with the Detroit Pistons and two with the San Antonio Spurs.?
