“Give Them the Slap in the Face”: Warriors Coach Slams Stephen Curry and Co. After Suns ‘Kick Their Bu*t’

The Golden State Warriors welcomed Stephen Curry with open arms as he played his first game in almost a month following his hiatus due to a shoulder subluxation injury. Although it was a moment for the Dubs fans to rejoice, but the celebrations didn’t last long. On Tuesday, the Warriors were demolished by the Phoenix Suns, and not even Chef Curry could bail them out. The San Francisco side had a decent run without their no. 30 winning five games straight in a row. But recently they’ve been awful. A fact that was noticed by their head coach Steve Kerr as he slammed his team in the post-match press conference.

Kerr became candid in response to tough questions as he opened up on his thoughts. The title-winning coach was blatantly honest about his team’s shortcomings while praising the Suns.

The baby-faced assassin was a part of the game where his own team was massacred. The team did extremely poor as they forgot their defensive duties while protecting their basket. In the post-match press conference, Steve Kerr addressed the exact same issues openly. The veteran coach answered questions about their lackluster defense, while claiming responsibility for the performance.

Yeah, I mean, I take responsibility for that. I clearly didn’t have our guys ready to play and that’s my fault,” said Kerr. He further added, “I’ve got to do a better job of you know, giving them the slap in the face that Phoenix gave us in the first quarter. Like they always go like this, a team’s got a bunch of starters out. And then all the guys who normally don’t play much, they can’t wait to get out. Kerr focused on how the Suns were highly motivated against the Dubs and their youngsters performed. Additionally, he also answered why the pushback from the Dubs came in the fourth quarter. The Warriors coach explained that the fourth-quarter performance should’ve been executed from the first minute.

Curry’s return was rather anti-climactic and the Dubs coach emphasized that the team has to do better in order to win NBA matches.

With Stephen Curry returning, everyone expected a win on Tuesday. But that wasn’t the case. The Warriors extended their losing streak to three games. Although Curry’s return didn’t make the Warriors better, it’d still be presumptuous to think that they wouldn’t fare better in the future fixtures.

The Warriors’ no. 30 was a genuine MVP contender before injuring himself. He is averaging 29.7 PPG for the season.
