Former Sports Illustrated writer Lee Jenkins once revealed his favorite ‘LeBron James Story’. He recalled that he and the LA Lakers star LeBron James had met for an interview at The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove. LeBron came along with his friends and bought his sons, Bronny and Bryce. While the interview was halfway through, LeBron caught the attention of several wedding guests and ended up becoming a wedding-crasher in the process.

The executive director of research and identity for the LA Clippers, Lee Jenkins, used to work as a senior writer for Sports Illustrated. Having been a writer for one of the leading sports magazines, Jenkins has covered multiple stories about several sports personalities. In a segment for Complex, ten writers came up with their most favorite stories about LeBron James. Several established writers from ESPN, The Atlantic Writer, and Fox Sports came forth with their memorable encounter with King James.

Lee Jenkins recounted the time he had met up with LeBron James after the former Miami Heat player won his first championship title. King James had led the Heat to their second NBA title. The Heat had previously won in 2006. Jenkins stated that he went to see LeBron before Game 1 to get some sort of confirmation from him about the meet up. They met at the Ritz 48 hours after the Heat beat the Oklahoma City Thunder. Jenkins said that they were supposed to do the interview in a conference room of the hotel.

LeBron showed up, along with his sons and few friends, at the venue. Jenkins recalled that preparations for a Jewish wedding were going on in the area. Noticing that the patio was relatively deserted, Jenkins suggested doing the interview there. They got to talking and about 45 minutes later, the wedding guests started coming down to see King James.

“Hey, I didn’t know this was going to happen,” said Jenkins to LeBron when he turned to look at him.

In a sudden turn of events, LeBron went on to gate crash the Jewish wedding and raised a toast to the couple. He even obliged and clicked a couple of photos with the bride and the groom.

Furthermore, Jenkins added “—and everybody kind of raises a glass to him and he said ‘L’Chaim’ to everybody. And he just said, ‘You’re getting rings, I’m getting a ring.'” It was really cool.”
