Former NBA Players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson released the first episode of the year earlier this week. They hosted the Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson on their show All the Smoke. In this hour-long episode, Johnson spoke about his career and gave fans insight into his several ideologies while also speaking about the values he learned growing up. One such value changed his life, making him the millionaire he is today.

Most often than not, a successful NBA player expands their on-court triumph to sections off the court. They invest and endorse brands while also building their business empires. Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, LeBron James, and Johnson are some examples. With that said, Johnson spoke about the value that helped him build a 620$ Million worth empire, an amount more than what Shaquille O’Neal has.

In the episode, Magic Johnson revealed that his father, a loyal worker in the general motor industry, always emphasized working hard to achieve anything in life. This turned him into an individual who loves to work, leading to his establishing a million-dollar empire. His love for working made him follow a disciplined routine wherein he hits the bed at 8 pm. He said, “I make money when people sleep.”
