Dwyane Wade and his ‘scary’ start to The Cube

Dwyane Wade is one of the calmest players to play the game. Even when the fate of the entire game depended on him, with a million eyes on him, waiting for that winning hoop, he’s managed to mesmerize millions of his fans.

But, post-retirement, his career has faced him with many ‘scary’ opportunities. He recently spoke about all changes in his career at Club Shay Shay. The NBA Finals MVP talked about all his ventures, including production companies, Warner Media, and TV shows.

Speaking about his TV ventures, Wade talks about fond memories. “We on the Zoom with the whole team and they were like, ‘Hey, we got this amazing concept of the show called The Cube...?Filmed in the UK for 10-11 years… I love this show, I want to be Executive Producer.

However, things took a hilarious turn from there. “So we shook hands on EP. Before we got off the call, eventually, they said, ‘Oh, and we would love if you can host.'”?Wade recalls his feelings. Perplexed, he said, “Me? I started sweating.”?

But Wade wasn’t one to quit. He described his thought process during the time. “Anytime I’m scared to do something...Something that’s attainable and something I want to do…I actually want to challenge myself.”

The Heart of a Champion

In the interview, the 3-time Champ explains how he was pre-prepared for the role. “When I retire, the first thing I did… I took voice lessons… I may be in front of a camera, I will have a microphone in my face so let me learn,” However, even with all the preparation, the moment can be scary. Wade spoke about the same saying, “I was already prepared and prepping myself for an opportunity, but when it came, I was scared.

But, no matter how scared he was, he was dedicated. He was driven to be the best, leading his team to 3 rings. He further adds “It took me a couple of days and I was like you can’t be scared. And so, I said I’ll do it.”?

Wade’s time apart from the game has given many players inspiration for a similar trajectory. Wade is a champion, both on and off the court. The Cube went on to be a super hit show with a second season set to come out soon.
