The Brooklyn Nets may finally be able to catch a break regarding their star point guard. Kyrie Irving is all set to join the squad back on the court on Sunday. With Kyrie Irving’s return to the team, the matchup between the Brooklyn Nets and the Memphis Grizzlies will be one to watch. 

After sharing a link to his Twitter account of a controversial documentary, Kyrie Irving was already walking on thin ice. The Nets made the decision to proceed with Irving’s ban after he failed to accept responsibility and chose to stand by his position.

Fans change their stance on Kyrie Irving

Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai gave a statement wherein he said that Irving has a lot of work to do in order to join the team back. And it looks like he has gone “above and beyond” to remedy his controversial actions.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Irving committed himself to the process of joining the team back. He reportedly did much more than he was asked to do by the Brooklyn Nets to prove people otherwise.

The narrative toward Kyrie Irving has really taken a hit. He has faced heat from fans, analysts, and more for the past couple of weeks. But looks like his efforts to redeem himself have finally paid dividends as fans took notice of Irving’s actions.

One fan tweeted, “I gotta say, I’m actually surprised.” Another fan commented, “Apologizing was above & beyond.” Irving has had a hard time being questioned constantly by the fans and media over his actions.

And it wasn’t just Irving who suffered. The team also had a tough time due to his absence from the court.

League sources give an insight into Irving

According to sources close to the Nets and the league, “both sides are happy with what Irving has done throughout the process, especially given the number of community leaders he has met with.”

Another insider, who wished to remain anonymous for lack of official permission to discuss the matter, claimed that Kyrie Irving went “above and beyond” the call of duty. That must be good news for Nets fans and players as well.

As much as Kevin Durant has tried to keep the team afloat, the Nets could certainly make use of Irving’s attributes on the court.

It will be interesting to see what Irving has in store for the NBA if he makes his return against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.
