In upcoming collaboration with a multi-billion-dollar company, Dwyane Wade is all set to shed light on his experiences as a father.

Months back, D Wade was in the forefront of the legal battle his daughter Zaya had to go through. With his gesture towards his daughter, Wade has become a voice for gender and se*ual minorities. Wade’s love and support for Zaya has brought him together with fellow parents in his new collaboration.

Dwyane Wade’s daughter Zaya had earlier come out as a transgender. Wholeheartedly welcoming his daughter’s decision, Wade filed a petition for his daughter’s name and gender change. The Wade family won the legal battle and Zaya was granted the permission to change her name and gender.

Dwyane Wade seems to have furthered his stance as an ardent ally of the LGBTQ rights. In his recent collaboration with Netflix, Dwyane Wade has joined other fathers of trans children to share his anecdotes.

According to a report on Deadline.com, Netflix has acquired Luchina Fisher’s short documentary, The Dads. The documentary is a meditation on fatherhood. Heat icon Dwyane Wade is one of its EPs. Alongside Wade are fellow parents of trans children.

The documentary features these five fathers going on a fishing trip and having a free-wheeling conversation about fatherhood. ‘The dads’ will dive deeper into the love for their children which brought them together.

Furthermore, the documentary will also explore how these fathers found a common purpose across races, generations and experiences. Notable LGBTQ ally and father of slain gay student, Matthew Shepard, will join the 13x-NBA All-Star and his fellow dads in the Netflix venture. Dwyane Wade has shared the update on his Instagram story.

After Netflix acquired the rights of The Dads, director Luchina Fisher pointed out she was more than excited that her film will reach the public. “I am delighted to have Dwyane Wade, an outspoken and loving ally of his daughter and the trans and LGBTQ community, join me in bringing greater visibility to the film and the important conversations it is already sparking,” said Fisher. Dwyane Wade had a similar comment on the venture.

“I am incredibly proud to be joining Luchina Fisher and the entire team on this journey to bring awareness to a cause that is so close to my heart. The Dads shows us the power of fathers loving and supporting their LGBTQ children, breaking through the barriers of prejudice, embracing diversity, and coming together to have these important conversations,” Dwyane Wade said in a statement to Deadline.
