Adidas hasn’t made a great impact in the NBA, especially through sneakers. Several NBA players are famous for their sneaker empires with Nike, Puma, Air Jordans, etc. LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo are a few superstars who have collaborated with Nike. Previously Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving was also a part of it until things went haywire.

In October 2021 during his tenure with the Brooklyn Nets, Irving shared a link to a film that promoted antisemitism. The 6’2 guard faced severe backlash from the Nets and the NBA. Later on November 4, Nike cut ties with the 8-time All-Star with an immediate effect for promoting antisemitism. Since then, Irving has not made a sneaker collaboration with any company.

The sales of YEEZYs took a huge dip last year after West’s controversial statements. Adidas was ready to destroy YEEZY sneakers worth $1.3 billion after the sales drop. However, a report revealed that the billion-dollar company will try selling the YEEZY stock instead and donate a part of it to people who were affected by his comments.

Kyrie Irving’s collaboration with Nike was world-famous. Stylish, comfortable and it was a sensation for numerous ballers. However, Nike abruptly stopped the sales of the Kyries last year.
