The NBA playoffs had their fair share of surprises this season. Be it Steph Curry and the Warriors missing out on the post-season run, to Atlanta Hawks and a young guard in Trae Young emerging as a superstar in the league, the 2020 playoffs have stood out.
Young and the Hawks have truly been the biggest surprise package of the playoffs. Starting their season with a record of 14-20, the Hawks saw a resurgence under new head coach Nate McMillan.
After easily defeating the Knicks, Atlanta defeated a loaded Philadelphia 76ers and shocked the world. Pushing the eventual finalists the Bucks to six games, Trae Young and the Hawks certainly put a valiant effort and put the NBA world on notice.

Trae Young tops Steph Curry in incredible comparison
Ever since his debut in the league, Trae Young has often been compared to Steph Curry. Be it his short frame, his quickness, and his ability to pull up from anywhere on the half court, there was always an uncanny similarity between the two. Young who always has had incredible stats but prior to the season, the 2018 lottery pick wasn’t considered as a legitimate superstar in the NBA.
But after his miraculous run in the playoffs, Young certainly turned some heads, solidifying himself as a bona fide young star in the league. In a latest post, the 22-year-old star’s stat was compared to that of Curry’s stats when he was 22.

Not only did Trae leads Steph in points, he also led in assists and also was pivotal in leading his team to the Eastern Conference Finals. This certainly speaks volumes about the 22-year-olds greatness.
But this comparison doesn’t paint a clear picture as a 22-year-old Curry played in an era where shooting wasn’t as prevalent. He rather became one of the pioneers for the free flowing offensive game and volume three point shooting we see in the league.

Trae is certainly headed on the right path though. If the 22-year-old can improve his shooting splits and decrease the number of unnecessary turnovers he has in the game, we might be see a much more complete player. Can Trae Young lead his team to a championship in the near future?
