Stephen Curry Was Shocked After Warriors Teammate Publicly Humiliated Him Before His Stardom

Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors is definitely one of the biggest stars in the NBA currently. However, his initial years in the league were no cakewalk. He was drafted by the Warriors during the 2009 NBA draft, and he worked hard to break through into the first team.

Monta Ellis was an established star, and he was the best player on the Warriors team back in the day. Interestingly enough, Ellis refused to play with Curry, citing that two small guards will never work.

The Warriors’ management had the tedious task of sorting out the differences between the two. Ultimately, Ellis was traded away from the team and Steph developed into the star he is today.

Talking about the issue within the team, Curry said that it was unexpected, and he had to consult his father regarding the same. The team drama we had was a shock because it came out of nowhere. So I went to him [Dell] about how to handle it,said the former MVP.

The Warriors team made the right decision to keep Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry is the undisputed leader of the Golden State Warriors. However, it was quite possible he would have never had a career in the Warriors. During the Monta Ellis drama, fans backed the star and were against a young Curry.

However, he proved his doubters wrong in his first season itself. Steph averaged 17.5 points, 5.9 assists, and 4.5 rebounds during his rookie 2009-10 season. As the seasons went by, Curry got better and better.

He led the Warriors to their first NBA title after decades during the 2014-15 season, which also earned him his first-ever MVP award. However, this was far from his best. Stephen Curry was named the first-ever unanimous MVP of the league during the 2015-16 season.

Safe to say, the Warriors’ front office made the right choice of trading one of their best players and planning for the future. Steph is widely regarded as one of the best draft picks ever as he led the team, which drafted him to 4 NBA titles.
