James Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers have had a poor start to the 2022-23 season, with the Philly side having a 1-4 record on their books. The 76ers had a more than good 2021-22 season, with the team finishing second in their division and fourth in their conference. But the same cannot be said about their recent form, with a lot of chatter around the NBA world of a big decision incoming in the near future.

Doc Rivers led the 76ers to consecutive conference semifinals, unable to break the deadlock to move forward. And under the current performances, Doc Rivers’ job might be up for contention.

James Harden might have a new coach

The 1-4 record for the team is not a sign of huge concern in a season with 72 games, but it could become difficult if the poor run of form continues. Hence, chatter has arisen in the NBA World about the termination of Doc Rivers. The name is pretty well known in the league as one of the top coaches.

Zach Lowe recently said in his podcastDoc Rivers, Bill Simmons has been saying for weeks on his podcast Doc could be the first coach fired,” the journalist further added how this might still not hold water as the team was created with a lot of patience by the 76ers owner Daryl Morey.

Regardless, fans have started putting their opinions in on who the next coach of the Philly side could be. One name seems like a huge possibility if Doc Rivers is terminated from his position, Ime Udoka.

Ime Udoka coached the Celtics to their first NBA Finals appearance in 2021 since 2010. The team has recently suspended the coach for the entirety of the 2022-23 season. Safe to say, the relationship between the front office of the Celtics and the Nigerian coach has grown thinner. Even though he has not been terminated, but chances of him returning to the Celtics seem minimal.

The union seems more than likely if they fired Rivers from his position and could be the missing piece to the 76ers puzzle.

Harden and 76ers in 2022-23

Although his team is currently in the bottom four of the Conference, James Harden has not halted his good performances. The Philadelphia 76ers lost to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday 26th of October by 119-109.

But James Harden averages 25.0 PPG for the 2022-23 season and also a 39.4% in 3pt FG. Signifying that the 10-time All-Star has not lost his class in the chaos.
