Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has the unique accolade of being the highest scorer in the history of the NBA. However, that record might soon be broken. LeBron James is breathing down Kareem’s neck as he looks to become the highest scorer in NBA history.

With the 2022-23 NBA season right around the corner, LeBron is expected to pass Kareem up very soon. Interestingly enough, Kareem himself thinks so too.

The NBA Hall of Famer expressed his thoughts on LeBron potentially passing him on the scoring chart recently. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar said, “When LeBron passed Kobe as number three on the all-time scoring board, I knew it was just a matter of time before he passed me too. Records are made to be broken.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar broke the record and became the highest scorer in 1984 passing Wilt Chamberlain. Interestingly enough, this happens to be the year LeBron James was born!

LeBron needs 1,325 points to pass Kareem. Considering he will remain fit and continue his superb form from last season, James will take just 49 games to pass Kareem if he manages to maintain his current average. (Source: ESPN)

LeBron James revealed shocking details about his relationship with Kareem

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has held the record for the highest scorer in NBA history for quite some time now. It is only natural that he will be upset when LeBron James breaks his record in the future. However, Abdul-Jabbar seems to be happy for LeBron for achieving the incredible milestone.

However, it seems the two Los Angeles Lakers icons don’t have much of a relationship with each other. Recently, James was asked to comment on his relationship with Kareem and he gave an interesting answer. He said, “No thoughts, no relationship.”
