When one thinks of Kevin Durant, one thinks of him as a great NBA player. Easily one of the best in the game’s history, Durant’s performance over 15 seasons has captured the essence of his game. Currently, with the Brooklyn Nets, Durant’s love for basketball has always preceded everything else.

Though injuries and roster changes have affected his time in Brooklyn, the two-time NBA Champion has remained level-headed. Working through the issues, the team still stands a chance with Kyrie Irving back for home games.

That being said, as Durant makes a name for himself in New York City, the previous part of his NBA journey can never be overlooked. He led the OKC Thunder to their sole NBA Finals appearance and has helped secure two titles with the Golden State Warriors.

During a recent interview with The Ringer, Durant shed light on his journey, his selection on the NBA 75 team, and how his jerseys need to be retired. Though his departure from both OKC and Golden State has been anything but peaceful, his legacy with the teams remains.

“OKC has to retire my jersey,” he said. “It wouldn’t even be good for the game of basketball if they didn’t. The same with Golden State”.

Kevin Durant Believes Michael Jordan and LeBron James Would Pick Him for a Five-on-Five

Durant refers to these places as his home, something he clearly holds close to his heart. As per the 2014 NBA MVP, neither of these franchises is going to deny him a place in their history. After all, Durant is set to become a Hall of Famer.

“I’m still doing what I’m doing here in Brooklyn, but if I continue on what I’m doing four or five years, then I’ll feel the same way about this program,” Durant added. He wants to have a home, especially as he feels he is basketball himself, a sport he breathes.

Furthermore, Durant has put his time and love into every team he has played for, which demands that type of recognition from him. “If I don’t do it, then it’s personal”. 

In the end, even Jayson Tatum agreed with Durant’s words.

The Boston Celtics star responded to a snippet of Durant’s interview, agreeing with the NBA veteran.

While his time in GSW was short, Durant seems to be ‘settled’ in Brooklyn. He has signed a four-year extension with the team, which means his stay continues until he is 37. Following his time with the Thunder, this will be Durant’s longest stint with a team.
