Lakers New Arrival Explains Why He Has Been Eager to Play Alongside LeBron James His Whole Career

The return of Wayne Ellington to the LA Lakers this offseason was both a welcome and a much-needed one. The team needed help in shooting after acquiring Russell Westbrook via trade. Once free agency began, one of the first names to be associated with the Lakers was Wayne Ellington.
During an appearance on Monday’s edition of the “Noble and Roosh Show” podcast, he spoke about training alongside LeBron James.

Ellington called LeBron James one of the greatest basketball players while praising his attention to detail.
“Just watching him a little bit and seeing how specific he is and detailed he is while he is going through that work, it just shows that why he is one of the greatest players ever to touch a basketball.”

Ellington’s return to Lakers with Championship hopes
Ellington described LeBron’s training sessions as motivating.
“I have always wanted the opportunity to contend for a championship and I’ve watched on TV some of the looks that LeBron creates, some of the tension that he brings.

“And one day I hope I am going to get some of those looks and I think it’s just perfect timing – now when I’ve been asking for it.”
Ellington played with the Lakers for the first time in 2014-15. He experienced a solid year, scoring an average of 10.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. Ellington averages 8.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists a game over the course of his career. A lifetime 41 percent shooter from the field, alongside an excellent 38.2 percent shooter from beyond the arc.

The Lakers should benefit from his shooting abilities. In such a stacked roster, it will be interesting to see how he fits in. So far, he hasn’t won an NBA championship. In the upcoming season, Ellington will certainly seek to change that with the Lakers.
