Superstar LeBron James always has a home in the Cleveland Cavaliers. This was his hometown team. He got drafted into that team in 2003 and stayed there for seven years. LeBron then left them for the Miami Heat and got two titles. The Cleveland fans were angry, but not for too long as he came back in 2014.

He then led them to their first-ever NBA title in 2016. James took the franchise to heights never seen before. They appeared in the NBA Finals regularly from 2014 to 18. If not for the Golden State Warriors, LeBron could have won more with Cleveland. He left the team again in 2018 for the Los Angeles Lakers. After four years, he might just come back again.

Could the 18-time NBA All-Star put on a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey for the third time? Surely, it’s a possibility. The Lakers have struggled to get anywhere close to repeating their 2020 NBA championship histrionics. Cleveland may be aiming to clear room for a run at James next year according to reports.

Chris Broussard said that a third stint would be overkill. According to him, the magic was already lost in his second stint. He also said that the Cleveland fans might want to see the young guys develop.

LeBron James: Cleveland Hero?

James, who was selected No. 1 overall by Cleveland in the 2003 NBA Draft, played for the Cavaliers for a combined 11 seasons (2003–10, 2014–18), helping them reach the postseason nine times. During that time, he also led Cleveland to 5 NBA Finals trips, including four straight during his second term, which culminated in one championship win in 2016.

The Cavaliers hadn’t advanced past the regular season since the late 1990s until King James joined them in 2003. After LeBron departed in 2010, they didn’t see another postseason until he came back in 2014. They haven’t seen one since he left for the second time in 2018.

In 2020, James lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a championship after joining them in 2018. But since then, things have gone not so great. This past season, the Lakers (33-49) didn’t make the playoffs. They ended as 11th in the West, with eight of their final ten games being losses. In 2021–22, James missed 26 games while averaging 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. They were eliminated in the first round the year before.
