“Long Live the Batman”: LeBron James Pays Tribute to Legendary Actor Kevin Conroy as the Iconic Voice of the ‘Caped Crusader’ Passed Away

A recent report came out that said voice actor Kevin Conroy has passed away at the age of 66. The actor is best known for his role in ‘Batman: The Animated Series’, along with other numerous iconic roles. The great artist had a strong following, and many appreciated his skills, including basketball star LeBron James. 

Conroy also appeared in many animated TV shows, motion pictures, 15 films, and games including ‘Arkham Knight’ and Arkham City’ which became popular among fans. On her social media account, Diane Pershing, who voiced Poison Ivy in the DC Comics series, released the news.

According to a Facebook post yesterday, the news of the 66-year-old passing has since been confirmed. The famous animated series featuring his voice ran from 1992 to 1996, and fans will miss him dearly. The role he played, especially when paired with Mark Hamill’s Joker, is undoubtedly iconic in television history.

Before his role, Conroy had no prior experience in comics. He went from being husky, brooding, and dark for the role of Batman to becoming light and dashing for the role of Bruce Wayne. For this tough role, he looked forward to the 1930s film, ‘The Scarlet Pimpernel’, which provided him with inspiration. It was evident that fans adored him in all of his forms.

LeBron James pays homage to the legend

An Instagram story was shared by LeBron James along with a picture, saying: “RIP Legend!!! Long Live The Batman!!”. Additionally, Hamill, who played opposite Conroy in the animated series also paid tribute to the late actor.

“For several generations, he has been the definitive Batman,” wrote Hamill. “It was one of those perfect scenarios where they got the exact right guy for the right part, and the world was better for it.”

Furthermore, others such as Warner Bros Animation praised Conroy’s performance, stating that it “will forever stand among the greatest portrayals of the Dark Knight in any medium.”

In the same way that he inspired young artists, Kevin Conroy will undoubtedly be remembered as an iconic figure by fans like LeBron James.
