In the 1997-98 season, the Lakers took on the Bulls, which was the game that changed Jordan’s perspective of Kobe. In that game, Bryant came off the bench, scoring 33 points with 0 turnovers. Whereas, Jordan racked up 36 points by the end of the game.

In the middle of the game, Jordan hit his signature fadeaway over Kobe. Bryant, who was curious about that shot, asked for some tips on how to shoot a fadeaway in post. Michael used to get messages from Kobe in the middle of the night or 3 in the morning. Kobe would ask about Jordan’s family, business advice when he retired, and learning basketball when he was still playing. Jordan was emotional when he spoke at A Celebration of Life for Kobe and Gianna Bryant.
