Michael Jordan’s Mother Got Mad At Him For His Excessive Smoking and He Reacted in A Heartwarming Manner

‘The Last Dance’ summed up mostly everything Michael Jordan fans wanted to know about him and the Chicago Bulls. However, there was one surprising detail that seemed to be missing from the entire documentary series: where were the cigars?

As long as we have known the legend, he has hardly ever gone through an interview without lighting up a cigar.

However, in the documentary series, the cigar was lying right next to him but he didn’t smoke. Well, it seems like his mother might have something to do with it.

Here’s what Michael Jordan did when his mother got angry with him

While footage of games, celebrations, and other old interviews were playing on ‘The Last Dance’, a plethora of instances in which Michael Jordan was smoking a cigar came up. However, when the production team did a real-time interview with him, the cigar wasn’t in his hands; it was next to him.

However, the reason behind it was well explained by the docu-series director Jason Hehir. On ESPN’s Jalen and Jacoby “The Last Dance” after show, he revealed, “He couldn’t have a cigar on set because his mom got mad at him.  And he said, ‘I can’t have the cigar today because my mom got mad at me because she saw me smoking a cigar.”

From smoking a cigar before every home game to moving to six a day after his retirement, this was a huge sacrifice for the GOAT. If there is anyone who can tell him what to do, it’s his mother. Everyone knows she has had a huge influence on Jordan’s success on and off the court.

It was her, who insisted that he take the meeting with Nike, which resulted in a multi-million dollar franchise. So, it’s only fitting that he listens to her. If our moms aren’t going to be protective about our health, who will?
