The NBA on TNT enjoys the reputation of being hailed as the most popular basketball show in the world, courtesy to the hilarious antics of NBA legends Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley that fans have come to love over the years, along side their heated arguments and hot takes. Barkley recently signed a ten-year contract extension with TNT worth a whopping $317 million. However, there were reports that he could appear for another network as well. Amidst all this, Shaq recently answered some loaded questions about his job, especially regarding receiving flak for criticizing current players.

Barkley and Shaq are well-known to speak their minds during debates. But their honest and unfiltered takes have often backfired. In fact, the two have received a lot of flak from players and fans for their comments on current NBA stars.

Shaquille O’Neal and former NFL star Adam Jones recently joined the crew of The Pat McAfee Show. During the sit-down, the four-time NBA champion opened up about a lot of interesting things. He answered questions about his childhood, entrepreneurship, NBA career etc. In one instance, the host asked Shaq whether he still likes to appear on NBA on TNT despite getting so much backlash for his honest opinions.

In response, the Big Diesel noted that athletes of his generation would be fired up if a veteran criticized them. He added that the current players consider criticism as “diss” and call the critics like himself “haters” for the comments.

“Yeah, I do. I’m gonna just always try to be as respectful as I can and just try to talk about what I know from my experience…Never trying to be personal…Because I do have the answers,” Shaq said.

He then revisited his take on players not taking criticism well. Shaq declared that he has all the answers because of his vast experience in the league. The Big Aristotle added, “When it comes to the NFL and being great, Pacman[Jones] has the answers. So when you speak, young players should listen. If you don’t wanna listen, do it your way.”

Looks like the Los Angeles Lakers legend is loving his job with TNT. During the podcast, he also revealed a piece of interesting information about the hit show. While answering a question about Ernie Johnson, Shaq said that Ernie is funnier than him or Charles Barkley.

Charles Barkley is a wanted man

LIV Golf approached Charles Barkley last year. At the time, Barkley had three years and $30 million left on his TNT contract. The Philadelphia 76ers legend showed loyalty to TNT and rejected the offer by LIV Golf. He then signed the ten-year $317 million extension with TNT.

Also, CNN recently showed interest in Barkley’s service. Since CNN and TNT are both owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, CNN is hopeful that the 1993 NBA MVP could make some appearances on the platform and help boost their viewership.
