Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler has been the face of his franchise for some time now. Ahead of the 2022-23 NBA season, the 6-time NBA All-Star decided to go for an unconventional look that would stay in the minds of the fans for the entire season. Butler decided to go for dreadlocks! Interestingly, he attended the NBA media day session while sporting the long dreadlocks. As a result, his photo on the NBA database constantly reminds fans of his interesting look.

It seems Butler opting for this type of hairstyle was no surprise. During an interview, his hairstylist and close friends revealed intriguing details about Butler’s hairstyle which took the NBA world by storm a few months ago.

The Heat star is one of the biggest trolls in the league, at least that’s what his teammates think. Moreover, he doesn’t care about what people think about him. Butler is going to do what he thinks is right.

This is why he opted for the dreadlocks ahead of his iconic 2022-23 NBA season. Jessica “Diamond” Dart, Butler’s hairstylist, has been styling his hair ever since his first season with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

While Butler had the idea of going for the dreadlocks, it was Dart who executed it to perfection. In fact, the hair was so well done, Butler’s teammates thought it was probably photoshopped!

“Nah, it’s probably Photoshopped,” said Gabe Vincent when he first saw Butler’s new look. Bam Adebayo said, “It kind of shocked me”.

Haywood Highsmith, who is in his second season with the Heat, said, “That’s Jimmy for you. Living his life, doing whatever he wants to do, doesn’t care what anybody else thinks.”

Interestingly, his teammates and close associates revealed that Butler is exactly what people see on the court. The petty, trash-talking Butler is just a piped-down version of his on-court self outside the basketball court.

Butler in this year’s playoffs

Butler led the #8 seed Heat to an iconic win over the #1 seed Milwaukee Bucks during the 2022-23 NBA playoffs. In game 5, the Heat trailed during the fourth quarter. However, some late heroics from Butler cut down the lead which led to some back and forth with Jrue Holiday.

Despite trailing, Butler told him, “I own you”. Now that is some next level of confidence. This is not all. In the next round of the playoffs against the New York Knicks, Butler and Kevin Love were seemingly sweeping the floor to point out Knicks’ Obi Toppin stepping out of bounds, which left fans bewildered.
