Mr ‘Competitive Bully’ Michael Jordan “Talked Crap” to Lakers Legend Long Before Even Joining the NBA: “Calling Me Young Fella”

Everybody knows how Michael Jordan had been a dominant persona both on and off the court during his time in the NBA. The six-time champion became the first NBA billionaire and was the highest-paid player during his time. But not everybody knows of his persona before the NBA. Recently, Hall of Famer James Worthy opened up about his experience with Jordan during his junior year in college. Both the legends graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Notably, Worthy remembered the Chicago Bulls legend to be very competitive as well as someone who was “talking crap all the time”.

James Worthy played his entire NBA career for the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers honored ‘Big Game James’ by retiring his jersey#42. Worthy further went on to become a popular commentator, TV host, and sports analyst. The seven-time All-Star got candid during a podcast and shared his experience on ‘Air Jordan’. He went on to narrate one incident during his junior year while Jordan was still in his freshman year.

James Worthy’s first impression of Michael Jordan

During the podcast, James Worthy was asked about his first impression of Michael Jordan when he came in as a freshman. Worthy responded that ‘His Airness’ wasn’t arrogant but he remembered him to be confident, notably, he stressed the word “confident” twice. Worthy further said, “He came in talking, like you know, just talking crap all the time“.

The Lakers legend stated that MJ bullied him after his practice session. He went on to narrate the moment when Jordan bullied and pushed him after two and a half hours of practice. Worthy said MJ then called at him, saying: “Where you going young fella, let’s play a game”.

The three-time NBA Champion continued to talk about the infamous competitive nature of MJ as he said Jordan always wanted to compete with the best. He also spoke about his statement in the docu-series ‘The Last Dance’. He jokingly repeated his statement, “Sh*t, I was better than Michael Jordan, for about three weeks”.
