The Los Angeles Lakers have already their process to have a new look next season. After the firing of head coach Frank Vogel, the purple and gold will look to find the right mix of players. With LeBron James still having one year left, they will look to rope him in for a potential extension. However, it seems the King has some different plans.

This season, the Lakers saw their entire roster fall apart. While there were big names, the chemistry was nowhere to be seen. But the major positive the Lakers have is LeBron is far from regressing. Even at the age of 37, he was the second-leading scorer in the NBA putting up 30 every night. But with injuries and the wrong players around, James was unable to get the Lakers to the postseason.

With him missing his second playoffs in his 4 years with the purple and gold, it looks like LeBron may look at other options after his deal expires.

LeBron James not planning on resigning?

The Lakers had a mountain of issues to deal with as injuries kept piling on them. In addition, having the oldest roster in the NBA did not help as their defense was one of the worst in the league. Despite not having the best cast, James was still able to dominate with his ferocious slashing style. However, hungry to win his 5th title, James could look for a move depending on how the next season goes with the purple and gold.

According to recent reports, instead of signing a $97 million dollar extension for 2 years, LeBron James will play out his remaining year with the Lakers and keep his options open. This did not draw the best reactions from the fans as they saw flashbacks of his time with Cleveland.  Likewise, they went right after the King.
