Serbian basketball superstar Nikola Jokic has been currently making the headlines and all for one reason. Two-time NBA MVP and one of the top prospects for the 2023 MVP title, the Denver Nuggets star could very well be headed to claim the title for the third consecutive year. However, the jury is still out as Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid proves to be an obstacle for Jokic. While both athletes meet head-on for a battle to claim the title, Jokic grabbed the opportunity to reach a major milestone in the recent game against the Sixers.

The Nuggets center player recently found himself in a difficult situation when NBA veteran Kendrick Perkins made certain claims about the MVP selection criteria. The 2008 champion publicly stated that Nikola Jokic won the back-to-back MVP title because a majority of the voters were white American, indicating that they were racially biased. This caused Perkins to face a huge amount of backlash from the NBA world.

The Denver Nuggets recently went up against the Philadelphia 76ers and claimed victory by 116-111. While 6x All-Star Joel Embiid sat out the matchup due to a calf injury, Tyrese Maxey led the team dropping a game-high 29 points in the losing game. While fans didn’t get to witness the MVP face-off they were looking forward to, Nikola Jokic gave Denver fans something to celebrate other than the win.

After the Monday night game concluded, Jokic joined NBA legends Wilt Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson as the third player in the league’s history to score at least 20 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists in 10 or more games.
