“Paying All That Money”: Warriors Owner Believes Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson Should Take Blame if Team Struggles

The NBA season is barely 3 months away. With the new-looking teams after the draft, the season is surely in for a thrilling ride. Notably, for Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, they drafted two of the guys they desired.
Owner of the Bay, Joe Lacob, spoke to the Athletic about their recent acquisitions in the draft. Surprisingly, Lacob did not expect to get both Kuminga and Moody in the draft. He said that he thought Kuminga was a top 5 prospect.
Lacob may talk as he was present on all the workouts. However, when asked about a championship this season, he gave a very honest answer.

Lacob says the ‘Big 3’ should take the blame if they don’t win
Joe stated that winning a championship this season is his dream. Moreover, he believes that the talent organized is enough to do so. However, he says if they do not win, then they should say that the stars were not good enough.
He said: “If we can’t, then you should look at Joe Lacob and Bob Myers and Steph Curry and Klay Thompson and Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins and say you weren’t good enough,” Lacob said. “You’re paying all that money you weren’t good enough. They need to be good enough and they should be.”

While it does sound bad, he holds a point. Stephen Curry, Draymond and Klay have won a title together. Moreover, with the top prospects now in their roster, they are surely a stronger team.
Can Stephen Curry win another title with the Bay?
The Golden State Warriors are definitely back as a competing team. However, the big problem is their age. Curry is now 33, while Green and Klay are 31. They are the youngsters like their 2015 title.
Moreover, getting out of the West won’t be a guarantee either. Both the LA teams are looking stacked, and surprise teams like the Suns have emerged as competitors. Even with top prospects like Kuminga, it will take some time for them to settle in.

However, with the Bay, it is never good to doubt. Stephen Curry played at his peak last season, scoring 32 points a game. In addition, the return of his splash brother, Klay Thompson, is also big news. Two of the finest shooters in the game have proven themselves to be dangerous on countless occasions.
