The Golden State Warriors may not have made it to the postseason last year, but Stephen Curry sure shut down everyone who claimed he was no good without Klay Thompson. Calling Steph’s performance anything other than incredible would be an injustice considering the way he carried the team in the 2020-21 NBA campaign. And through all the doubts and criticisms that went on, Curry did not use his words. Instead, he let his game do the talking. And he is more than happy he made that decision.
Steph’s 62-points were more than enough to silence the critics
The point guard put up some incredible numbers last season. From averaging 32 points, 5.8 assists, and 5.5 rebounds, to getting selected in his 7th All-Star game, and even becoming one of the top candidates for the MVP, he did it all. Mind you, he did all this while suffering from a tail bone injury. Let’s not even get started on the mind-blowing shooting stats that he put up.

However, before this, the Warriors were down in the dumps. They were nowhere near championship contenders in the absence of Klay Thompson. And unfortunately, Stephen Curry had to bear the brunt of it. So, instead of speaking his mind, he kept shut until he had the evidence to back him up. And he did just that, through his career-high 63-point performance against the Portland Trail Blazers.

So, when Curry came on SiriusXM NBA Radio, he explained how he took pleasure in not talking. He said, “I mean, there was a moment at the beginning of last year, before the Portland game and the 62 [points], that I heard a lot of noise and I heard a lot of talk about who I wasn’t and we were going to get exposed and I was going to get exposed and all that type of stuff. I definitely took pride in shutting all that up.”

This is a man who helped the Dubs make five consecutive appearances in the NBA Finals and also lead them to the championship three times. But when tragedy struck and Klay got benched, their ship started to sink. And with hardly any support apart from Draymond Green, Steph was helpless. Yet they were very close to making it to the playoffs last season.
That should leave no room for all the unfair criticism he got. Also, with the hopes that the Splash Brothers will be reuniting, fans haven’t been this excited to see the Warriors play in a long time. Has Curry proven his worth as a leader? What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
