“What a Joke… Makes 0 Sense”: Kyrie Irving Paying $500,000 for Noble Cause Has NBA Fans in Utter Disbelief

Kyrie Irving has received widespread criticism for recently promoting an antisemitic film on social media. However, he seemingly realized his mistake and sent an apology message to the world. Additionally, Kyrie Irving, the Brooklyn Nets, and the Anti-Defamation League joined forces for a noble cause and contributed to society to raise awareness. But the NBA world on Twitter doesn’t seem so convinced with it and presented their disbelief.

Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets will each donate $500,000. Furthermore, the donations will be used in supporting causes and organizations dedicated to eradicating hatred and intolerance in communities. Moreover, the team will collaborate with the Anti-Defamation League, a non-profit organization that combats antisemitism, hatred, and unfair justice for individuals and communities.

‘Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America’ is a movie that Kyrie Irving tweeted about on October 28. During a pre-game press conference just days after promoting the film, Irving was questioned about the controversial tweet by a reporter. Irving replied, “I just put things out there just like you put things out there.” 

Kyrie Irving issues an apology, but the NBA world remains unconvinced

On 2nd November, just a week after his controversial post, Kyrie Irving released an apology. He stated, “I am aware of the negative impact of my post towards the Jewish community and I take responsibility. And he later added, “I do not believe everything said in the documentary was true or reflects my morals and principles.

Irving went on to say that he had no intention of causing harm to any community. In addition, he added that as a human being, he learns from all walks of life.

As the news broke on the internet, the NBA world doesn’t seem convinced. Many believe that Irving didn’t get any severe punishment for his actions. One of the fans said, “What a joke. Why doesn’t he receive the same treatment as Meyers Leonard, if not worse? Makes 0 sense to me.”

Meyers Leonard, for example, made an antisemitic slur in the past. He was fined $50,000 and suspended as a result of his actions.
