The Dallas Mavericks have struggled to live up to the legacy that they left last season. They stand at 16-16 at the 9th seed in the Western Conference. The Mavericks have had to lean on Luka Doncic more so than ever this season. The team’s superstar has had terrific shooting sprees and has carried the team on his shoulders. In tonight’s game, he scored 50 points while the next top-scorer posted a mere 11. His team has not been able to rise to the occasion and be an able supporting cast for Doncic. And that may prove to be even more detrimental as new trade rumors surface.

According to Chris Haynes of the Bleacher Report, his teammate Christian Wood may not continue with the Mavericks anymore. Wood’s extension is up this weekend and his future within the team is unsure.

Haynes reported, “Rival teams have begun monitoring what the Dallas Mavericks intend to do with center Christian Wood. Dallas has yet to show any indication that he has been made available for a trade, but some teams believe that could change soon.

Wood joined the franchise just a few months ago. He was supposedly brought in to fill in the blanks for the team and help Doncic out. Though he has been good, he has not proved to be consistent.

Another worry for the franchise comes from the sheer interest in players from rival teams. This may suggest the instability within the Dallas Mavericks.

What does this entail for Luka Doncic?

The Dallas Mavericks have struggled to support its main man, Luka Doncic. While he has been at his best, and hitting career highs, his team frequently comes short. However, the team cannot afford any more losses. They already had to deal with a team void of Maxi Kleber, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Josh Green. The media has noted that the team would be wise to be open for a trade, considering their assets.
